How to set up a CUPS networkedprinter for MS Windows computer

In this example the following applies:

1. The network has a CUPS server on http://www.la9iha.ampr:631/

2. A printer Lexmark is found under http://www.la9iha.ampr:631/printers/lexmark

3. This is actually a Samsung but we’ll just leave the name as it is

4. It is also a SAMBA server on the same machine

Then, let us begin:

1. Go to Start and select Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes
   
   

2. Select Add a printer
   
   
   

3. Select Next in Wizzard
   
   

4. Select Network printer
   
   
   
   

5. Select Network Printer and put in URL and click Next
   
   
   
   

6. Select the printer type:
   
   
   
   

7. Then, indicate if printer is default or not.
   
   

8. Enter the printers and faxes screen as indicated in point 2 and ensure that the preferred standards are chosen, e.g. A4, Letter etc.
   
   

9. Try a test print
